Forged in Fire – Chapter Seven: The EGM and the Waiting Game
“We’ve fortified our base and manned the outposts; now it’s a matter of waiting for clearance to engage.”
The EGM and the Waiting Game
Our very first order of business as a newly formed committee was an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). This initial meeting was primarily a formality, a matter of officially appointing and voting everyone into their positions, solidifying our structure. With that done, it was a case of getting ready – specifically, getting ready for a positive ‘yes’ to the funds. We had the room, we had the real estate, and now we were just waiting on the money.
In the interim, there was still a huge amount to do. This period became our secondary duty, a chance to refine our vision. We had to work out revenue stream concepts for the club, plan room decorations, establish membership schemes, devise recruitment methods, and outline event plans. This gave us just enough to go along with as we waited for the final thumbs up or thumbs down. In total, from the point of bid submission to the final result, we had to wait quite a long time.
But the question remained: was it worth the wait?

Next time on Forged in Fire…
And then the call came—the answer that would either launch the Blades… or leave us waiting in the dark.
In Chapter Eight: The Final Verdict!. We had laid every foundation, but until the funding was confirmed, the Blades existed only on paper. The next few moments would decide if we’d take flight—or stay grounded.
